Biographical Text

Frank Carman was the first in four generations of Carman sons who did not work as a blacksmith. His knowledge of the trade, thanks to his father, prepared him for related work. When he found work at Greer Mill, he was put on the maintenance crew where he specialized in boiler operations. He remained in the mill, a fixture himself, for a half century.
