Alice
Your letter just now reieved [sic] you dont [sic] know how proud I was to get it.
I am not well I am troubled with - Shartness [sic] of breath the D says Indigestion Lillie is gailg [?] works all the time
Alice I am proud of my children Andy _ Beard _ Dook is Supers at Mills Andy at Liberty Beard at Belton Dook at Goldville Hugh is General Superintendent at South Greenville and piedmont papers and Lillie is Forelady over two hundred girls at Awchouse [?] I dont [sic] know what my boys salaries are each several hundred (___) month.
I am doing nothing nor dont [sic] want any folk my children are making enough to keep us up and dont [sic] want me to work _ Lill takes her lunch with her and I go to Doras for dinner By the way Dork has been in leed for a week suffering with some female trouble and may have to have an aparation [sic] the Drs will decide to day what to do Sallie come nad Spent a week with us during toras brought two youngest children with her
Mary Cana _ and Mitchell (___) John _ Bee _ Jack _ and J [?] at ho__ Bee come yesterday for the first time in over a year and will go back this eavning [sic] he is 6 ft tall and weigs [sic] 164 lbs I shure [sic] love him
Hugh has swaped [sic] his place near Gantt for house and lap on Stone avenue he had to moove [sic] back in city - where he was apointed [sic] general manage of the papers so he could be near if needed
Clint has a fine boy over one year old and having good health and Louise is tall as her mother and the Win boys 12 years old doing fine Andy and Aohsa are getting on fine Aohsa weigh 8 lbs more than Andy Beard & family getting on all A 12 I housed some them since +mas we took (___) with them +mas day matte’s (____) had a sfine dinner turk JC I think over 40 each dinner that day and on Sunday after dinner at Doras and ever [sic] child I have have was present and over 30 eat dinner that day Turkey and every thing you could mention was on the table Bob is as good to us as any of my children he is a good man John B is in Clemson College and Mary is in school here 9 years old past Ryan Beard boy Graduated as Civil engineer at Clemson last year he is at home now
Dr Hahn the preacher at pendleton st. Bap Church is very low not expected to live he is a mighty good h(____) been at this church for several years and I dont [sic] attend much account of my hearing I cant [sic] hear enough to enjoy His services
I love Pleasant Hill I am interested in Pleasant Hill more than any church for different reasons which you know
I would love to see Ervin Southern and Rasa I am sorry to hear Rosa is sick if I had a way to go I would go to see her we have no way to go and cant [sic] visit much as we would like to Alice you dont [sic] know how I apreceate [sic] your letter I wish I could see you I could talk a whole lot and shure [sic] (___) the first aportunity [sic] I am ant(___) to know what is the trouble with Ried and Lindsey sorry to hear there is trouble between them
