Germany, April 23
Dear Mama, Daddy + All,
Hello and how are you all, I'm just fine, I'm in a Replacement Depot now, on the way back to my outfit, sure will be glad to get back, I don't like it here worth a damn. It rained yesterday and to-day, sure is messy. How is everything at home, guess you're busy with the farming. By the way there's a boy here who was trained with me, he hasn't even been assigned yet, they didn't waste anytime with me. I drew a new rifle and it's much better than the one I had at the start. All I need now is a razor and I'll get one of those to-day or to-morrow. One thing I don't like over here, they put negroes together with the whites but there's nothing you can do about it. Well, I don't guess it'll hurt us.
I haven't changed clothes in quite awhile, sure will be glad when they give us some clean ones.
Well, there's isn't anything to write so I'll sign off. Don't work to hard, take it easy. Tell Fred, I'll write her in a few days. Write all you can and don't worry about me, I'll be all right. Tell all hello.
Lots of Love to All,
Bob
