Greers July 17th
Dear Etta
I have come to the conclusion you have forgotten you have a Mother by your long silence. This leaves us not well Your Grand Ma. received a severe fall. this Thursday after you left and was badly hurt her crutch slipped as she was coming from the Breakfast table she hurt her lame hip but no bones broken she is able now to sit up some, when she is helped up. I have had a right hard time. Nancy gone to Court and so much to do. She come home last night. have not yet heard the decisions. The Temperance meeting passed off very pleasantly I hear. not a great many delegates. and a common looking Croud. The Ice cream supper I hear was a success. was kept up two days. Mrs. Lane & Ida Goodlett has had a big fuss on the strength of it. have not heard the particulars. Well the Excursion left this morning Minnie & Mike went. The Fews, Zimmermans, Greens, Goodletts. the event. There is a good deal of sickness in the Neighborhood Rily [Stylil?] was buried yesterday. He had Tyfoyd fever suffered very much. Fannie & Edwin went to Greenvilled, stayed only two days they found Mrs. Mc__ very low with fever not expected to live. and your Aunt thought it best for them to come again as she could not enjoy their company. and they sayd they had to keep so very quiet they wanted to come back they said your Aunt was nearly broke down.
Mrs. Gibbs spent yesterday with us she is lively as ever we enjoyed her visit very much. Mary Duncan was here and helped me cook dinner. Mrs. Stewart & Jo will visit her soon. I am glad to hear you are enjoying yourself. A good many of the girls yesterday called in here Elsie, Lida Burgess, Emma & Anna Geren. all send love to you, and said tell you you did not miss much. Lida Burgess spent last Sunday night with me Edgar carried her to Church. I enjoyed her visit very much.
We are all delighted to hear sister Margaret is so much better hope she will entirely recover, sorry to hear Mr. S. is not well hope he has regained is usual strenght. Miss Nancy was here a while yesterday her things is all right except her Cow. on Monday after you left she found something was the matter with her bag. can not use the milk. but she is doing all she can for her. Also Dr. Westmoreland, Dillard, [Derhiell?], as much and probably more than if cousin Mary
Was here. I went up a few minutes once, and her chickens and every thing was all right Miss Nancy has never left only when she come here. She is doing her best. She did not want me to tell Mary about her Court. for fear she would be uneasy but tell her every thing is being done that can be some think she is a snake bit _ she eats harty and you know she will get well, tell Margaret to come home with you all if she possibly can. All join me in love to you and all Your loving Mother
