Greers Sept 29 1881.
Dear Etta
I recieved your very welcome card today. was glad to hear you was well, and doing so well. This leaves us all only tolerable well I am not well but better than I have been Fannie also has been sick was very sick for a few days, but has got well again. Miss Nancy Vaughn is doing fine she is so much help to me and sends a heap of love to you Your Grand Ma is still with us she is improving some and says you must study hard and try and be a credit to your old Grand Ma we are making me a new dress this week.
I heard from Emma lately she is very much dissatisfied, Mamie & Mimie was here this week they was well. Mamie was making her a new worsted dress. Mr. Andrew Gilreath is boarding with us a while, until he collects his cotton for Guano. the school is stoped has been a good deal of talk about Miss Sallie and some for Manly.
Bettie is as bad as ever is a great deal of trouble. Fannies Ears has been very sore is some better. I want you to write me a long letter and tell me about your school what you are studdying and how you are getting along. Mr. Pollard has a cotton Picking today Miss [Plue?] King & Miss Mary [Beuce?] rode down in there buggy. Your Pa says if you need a pair of shoes. get them at [Otbel?] & Morgans or Hunts charge to W. C. B. and will send the money [unclear]
Rouses soon if you Pa don’t come up. Tell your Aunt Eliza to not slight me when comes down Your Aunt Nancy is improving. I have not been to see her since you left. All join me in love to you & and your Aunt Eliza
