Text: GREER BOYS ENLIST IN U.S. AIR FORCE

These volunteers for the United States Air Force have just had a close-up view of one of the big Air Force Troop Carrier ships. All from Greer, they are buddies and have been sent in a group to Lackland Air Force Base, near San Antonio, Texas, where they will take AF basic training prior to assignment to one of the many USAF bases over the country. They are, left to right: Raymond Moon, Ansel Medford, Don Griffin, Leroy Brown, Clarence Chesney, Don Dollins, and Douglas Carpenter. Not shown in this official USAF photo taken at Donaldson Field, near Greenville, are three other area youths who will be in the Greer contingent at Lackland. They are Clarence Moon, Lamar Leopard and George Center.
