GREER, Sept. 2.–The Greer Music club will present Miss Vivian Major, pianist, in public recital Friday night at 8:30 o’clock in the auditorium of Davenport highschool.
Miss Major, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Major of Greer, is one of the most talented young artists in the state. She was graduated from Winthrop college in June, having been the first and only music major to perform in the large campus auditorium. For the past three summers she has studied with Edwin Hughes. She was one of four final contestants, from a previous 27, in the Columbia Music festival contest last year.
In September Miss Major will take up the study of music in New York City.
The program to be presented Friday night follows:
Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue…Bach.
Nocturne in E Major…Chopin.
Polonaise, A-flat…Chopin.
Gavotte, op.32, No. 3…Prokofieff.
Rapsody in E-flat, op.119, No.4…Brahms.
Two Intermezzi, op.119, No.2 and…Brahms.
Cantique D’amour…Liszt.
