The purpose: "dedicating and consecrating a Marker in honor of Worshipful Brother William Clark Bailey."
A Greenville News article, written by Jenny Munro of the Greer Bureau, titled "Well-Preserved History."
"Historic family cemetery holds Greer's first mayor."
Photograph, taken by Boat Bartwright, is captioned, "Final Resting Place: Jean Bailey points out the gravestone of William Clark Bailey, the first mayor of Greer. His earthly remains are buried in a small family cemetery, which is cared for by Mrs. Bailey."
Attached to the news article is a photocopy of a map showing where the cemetery is located, at the corner of Buncomb Road and Brushy Creek, as well as the cemetery dimensions.

RE: Local Historic Designation, Corner Brushy Creek Road & Buncombe
Packet of information regarding the Bailey family application for local designation. Mrs. Bailey applied for the local designation in November of 1995. It was reviewed and approved by the Board of Architectural Review. In May 1996, City Council held the first reading on the matter but determined applications should go through the Planning Commission for a public hearing. According to the letter, Mrs. Bailey was to contact the attorney as to whether or not she wants the application to go before the Planning Commission. The hearing was on April 20, 1998.

1st page: Faxed letter to Mr. Kenneth Westmoreland, Re: Jean Bailey and Cemetery Conveyance. Signed, Lesley R. Moore of Wyche, Burgess, Freeman & Parham, P.A., Attorneys at Law. The letter explains there is no specific deed for the cemetery, but there are references to a one-half acre burying ground dated 1902 and earlier. Those are included in this stack of papers.
