Glass plate features black and white photo of a newspaper clipping. The Hughes murder on Nov. 20, 1898 was one of the largest crime stories in Greer history, and happened just before the murder of Zonk Foster. This newspaper clipping appears to be cut from a published paper. It is possible that this clipping was from the Greer Observer when it was operated by Charles Drace, but that is speculative.

Original silver gelatin photograph made into a postcard. Camera was positioned in the street at the corner of Trade and (now) Poinsett, looking toward Main Street. In the center of the photo is the newly-built Greer's First Baptist Church; to the right is the Wood-Mendhall carriage shop; to the left is Drace's photo studio, Thompson Hardware, and the People's store. In the street there are two wagons and horses, a man walking, and an early brass-era automobile—a Cadillac, Buick, or similar touring car from around 1905–1907. One of the wagons is labeled "Greers Furniture," which was located just out of frame to the right.
